Information for referrers

We share our referrers’ commitment to the best continuing care of our patients, and know that ongoing communication is key in achieving this.

We also know that your time is valuable. For our existing patients, we will only ask patients to obtain a new referral when updated clinical information is required, or Medicare rules stipulate that it is required to maintain maximum rebate benefits for the patient. It should be noted that in some cases an indefinite referral, compared with periodic referrals, may result in lower rebate benefits being accessible to the patient.

How to refer

  • We prefer to send and receive correspondence securely through HealthLink (EDI: vsurgery).
  • We also happily receive correspondence from referrers by email (info@vascsurgery.au).
  • Hard copy correspondence can be sent to our PO Box.
  • We discourage the use of fax transmissions because of well-known issues regarding legibility, speed and security.
  • We are happy to accommodate urgent referrals.
